Where in Germantown can you order a smoothie at 7 on a weekday morning and a cocktail at 1:45 the next morning without moving your car? Today the answer is the stretch of Adams Street between Monroe and Taylor, inside the Neuhoff District. Mashburn's own directions describe that stretch as pedestrian-only, with a walking route from the garage past the padel courts to the shops.
For most of Germantown's restaurant era, the center of things was the grid around 4th, 5th and Monroe. Now the riverfront end has a full day of its own, and it's the one part of the neighborhood whose newest business is also its smallest.
How the block fills a day
Before E+Rose there was the meatpacking plant, then construction. Today the one block has a business open in nearly every slot from early morning to late night, based on the hours each one posts. Here's how a Saturday looks, using the hours the businesses or their listings publish:
| Time on a Saturday | What's open on the Neuhoff block |
|---|---|
| 8 a.m. | E+Rose café, 1320 Adams St., Suite 120 |
| 9 a.m. | Babychan, 1313 Adams St., coffee, baked goods and soba until 2 p.m. |
| 10 a.m. | Mas Tacos Por Favor truck at Adams and Taylor; Sid Mashburn and Love Train Antiques open |
| 11 a.m. | Van Leeuwen Ice Cream |
| Noon | Fishmonger and Monday Night Brewing Preservation Co. |
| 4 p.m. | Close Company, the underground cocktail bar |
| 5 p.m. | Charmers, with its river-view patio |
| Midnight | Monday Night Brewing and Van Leeuwen close |
| 1 a.m. | Charmers closes |
| 2 a.m. | Close Company closes |
The midweek schedule is thinner. Babychan closes Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Charmers closes Mondays and Tuesdays. The Mas Tacos truck takes Mondays off, and Fishmonger doesn't open until 4 p.m. on Monday. Some of these hours were posted when the businesses opened in 2025, so check before you plan an evening around them.
The things to do between meals help the block cover a whole day. Sensa Padel runs six outdoor courts, and its peak booking hours run from 5 to 9 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends. The Mas Tacos truck invites guests to eat on its turf patio, courtside at Sensa, or anywhere in the district. Down at the water, the River Steps are a multi-level public stairway and gathering spot on the Cumberland. The free summer concert series there finished on September 10, so fall visits there will be about the view, not a show.
Fishmonger, which opened March 14, 2025, was Neuhoff's first restaurant. Close Company followed on May 30, 2025, and Van Leeuwen announced its August 28, 2025 opening as the brand's third Nashville shop. Charmers opened December 26, 2025. The district's own page for Charmers still says "Coming Soon," which shows how fast the block has filled in.
The newest room has the fewest seats
The block's latest arrival takes the opposite approach to the cocktail bars around it. Cauponor comes from James Beard Award nominee Jake Howell and the team behind East Nashville's Peninsula. It has 14 seats and requires reservations, and it serves seafood-forward dishes with European influences at dinner Tuesday through Thursday, starting at 5 p.m.
The address is 1316 Adams St., Suite 25. In its July 31 review, the Tennessean says Cauponor "rests in the belly of Nashville's Neuhoff District" and that "finding the 14-seat restaurant takes a bit of patience."
Fourteen seats over three nights adds up to a very small number of dinners each week, set against a bar next door that's open until 2 a.m. on weekends. Booking Cauponor means picking a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday ahead of time. Bookings run through the restaurant's reservation page.
The other edge runs on Saturday dates
The Neuhoff block runs on a weekly schedule. Germantown's other anchor, the Nashville Farmers' Market at 900 Rosa L. Parks Blvd., runs on a calendar of named Saturdays. Three dates are on the books this fall:
- October 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fall Ball, Y'all, a free festival with music, pony rides, a petting zoo, cooking demos and a pie contest.
- October 31, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Halloween! Music at the Market, with DJ Dan MacNamara.
- November 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Turnip Green Festival, free, with live music, fall produce and vendor specials.
Each of these wraps up by early afternoon, while the Neuhoff kitchens and bars are still getting started. Plenty of Saturdays could start at the market in the morning and end on Adams Street at night. If you still want Oktoberfest this weekend, it's at Bicentennial Mall, not on Germantown's streets, and it ends Sunday, October 4, at 5 p.m.
In between, the restaurant rows keep turning over
The fixed points are at the edges, and most of this year's changes came in the middle. Taco Mamacita closed its Germantown location after service on June 28, as the Tennessean reported on July 1. New places opened nearby the same month. PennePazze and its sister gelato shop GelatoPazzo officially opened June 19 at 820 4th Avenue North, next to First Horizon Park. Em & Mẹ Café opened in June at 1244 3rd Avenue North. To the north in Salemtown, Basket Case Café & Grocer opened in May at 1801 5th Ave. N. and now posts a fall menu.
Two more are still only announced. Demure Cocktail Lounge, planned for 1319 6th Ave. N., was still listed as "Coming Soon" in mid-September. The Pulled Pit is targeting fall 2026 at 1408 Buchanan St., and we found no confirmation that it has opened yet. Treat both as future plans until their doors are open.
Neuhoff's block works differently. Nine food and drink spots are open there now, and a September guide lists no named consumer tenants that are announced but not yet open. The guide describes the district's next phases only in general terms: more residential, office and retail space.
The change that has a location but no date
The biggest change coming to this end of Germantown is a bridge. Oracle is building a pedestrian and bike bridge across the Cumberland from around Taylor Street on the Germantown side to Waterside Drive on the East Bank. The plans put the Germantown landing near Adams and Taylor, the corner where the Mas Tacos truck parks now. Metro Council Member Jacob Kupin told FOX17 the bridge "will enhance bicycle and pedestrian connectivity between the Neuhoff District and the new Oracle campus."
Oracle submitted its plans in May. As of FOX17's September 3 report, the East Bank Development Authority said the project was in the permitting phase with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. No public opening date has been announced, and StyleBlueprint's September guide says there isn't a firm construction timeline yet. For this fall, the Adams and Taylor corner is still a riverbank with a taco truck, padel courts and a set of steps down to the water.
If a new block like this has you thinking about how life near Adams Street compares with life closer to the market or the ballpark, the Kenny Stephens Team will walk Germantown with you street by street and give you a straight, protective read on what each corner offers.
